Proactive versus Not-Pro in active)))

How many of you have never heard of “being proactive”, of really taking responsibility and action in your life. Many say that the word “proactive” came from Covey, maybe it is so, but the meaning of it can be found from AyurVedic writings till the latest self-motivating books.
I strongly connect to this saying and this is actually one of my guiding principles in life.
Still at least 2 times today I was facing the situation when people took responsibility and proactivity in their life, and done it wrong and with damage for the business?
Is proactivity from employees bad for a manager?

Leadership Guru

Here is the best 20 guru of management and leadership of today….and the criteria of their selection. Two things pumped into my mind:
- There is no word about people & human & individual, which is really weird as no leadership of any organization would be possible without personal leadership…
- Also I have the impression that all of them are great for big companies, but 95% of the companies in the world are not big.
Any case, here they are…

The gurus who make our Excellence 100 list today possess a rare combination of traits and abilities. Here are the eight criteria:
1. Preparation: academic and professional.
2. Character: values, ethics, beliefs, purpose, mission, integrity, walk the talk.
3. Principles: big message, point of view, tenets, main points.
4. Personality: charisma, style, originality, authenticity, one of a kind.
5. Performance: inspiring action, real-world performance, work ethic.
6. Experience: beyond local and regional, more national and international.
7. Expression: substance and style in writing, speaking, coaching, consulting, mentoring, training.
8. Influence: difference, results, change, transformation.

Chance for a second opinion.

I was watching “Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona” yesterday and this questions pumped into my mind: do we have a chance for a second chance? The thing is that I was not really fond of Penelope Cruz at the beginning, even if I maybe liked the way she was acting, I was kind of influenced by the news at those times, that she had broke up the Hollywood most beloved couple – Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman…and that they have 2 children and everything…
Well sure this ideas were reinforced by the fact that my parents were divorced, and I kind of know the feeling that sucks.
But I must say now I am very fond of her. I love the way she acts, in majority of the films…her Spanish accent is astonishing and I feel that she loves what she is doing and she has passion for acting.
So do we have a chance for a second chance? The answer would be yes! Especially if the first opinion was created from outside and not from inside.
